Shanlyn A.S. Park joined McCorriston Miller Mukai MacKinnon in 2017. Her practice focuses primarily on complex litigation, insurance defense, criminal defense, and contested probate matters.
Previously a Senior Litigator for the Office of the Federal Public Defender, Ms. Park represented indigent clients in Hawaii charged with federal offenses ranging from misdemeanors to Class A felonies since 1997. She has argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and was a lawyer delegate to the United States District Court Conference. In addition, Ms. Park has participated in the training of attorneys who serve the United States District Court on the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel, and served as a resource to the panel attorneys. She also participated in the District Court Re-entry Court Program.
Prior to her representation of indigent defendants, Ms. Park worked as an associate attorney for a Honolulu law firm, practicing in the areas of commercial litigation, insurance defense, product liability, collections, foreclosures, and construction litigation. She also served as a law clerk to United States Magistrate Judge Francis I. Yamashita, for the Hawaii Civil Rights Commission, and several other prominent law firms in Honolulu. A graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy and Chaminade University, Ms. Park earned her law degree at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa William S. Richardson School of Law. She is admitted to the Bars of the State of Hawai'i, the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
In addition, Ms. Park has held offices as President, Vice-President, and Secretary of the Alumni Association Board for the William S. Richardson School of Law; has sat on the Board of Directors for the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii; and has served as an adjunct law professor at the William S. Richardson School of Law.
In her personal time, Ms. Park enjoys giving back to the community. She has variously served as a board member or officer for Sacred Hearts Academy Board of Directors, Project Focus Hawaii, Le Jardin Academy Parent Faculty Association, and HUGS (Help, Understanding & Group Support).
