McCorriston Miller Mukai MacKinnon LLP maintains one of the few dedicated Native Hawaiian rights practices in Hawaii. This practice area is unique to our state, encompassing legal issues involving Native Hawaiian land rights, water rights, cultural and burial resources, and self-governance.

Native Hawaiian rights law draws on a complex body of constitutional provisions, statutes, administrative rules, and case law. The Hawaii Constitution explicitly protects the rights of Native Hawaiians to practice traditional and customary rights. The State has also enacted legislation protecting Native Hawaiian burial sites, access rights, and water rights.
